Beyond Possible – Connecting Employers and People with Disability

WorkAbility Expos are a series of disability employment expos delivered by ImpactInstitute and funded by the
Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS).

WorkAbility expos connected people with disability, including those with high support needs, with employers and support services.

The aim of WorkAbility Expos was to improve knowledge of employment pathways, foster connection with employers, and promote inclusive hiring practices.

WorkAbility Expos had three specific objectives:
1. People with high support needs because of their disability, and their families and carers will have:
• A better understanding of the various pathways to employment, and the role that employmentrelated supports and services (including the NDIS & DES) can play;
• An opportunity to connect with local employers, including mainstream employers, who are open
to hiring people with disability, including those with high support needs.
2. WorkAbility Expos, including the online expo, are accessible to the target cohort, being people with
disability with high support needs.
3. Suitable employers who have demonstrated experience in hiring and supporting people with disability
with high support needs are invited and attend the WorkAbility Expos.

Key findings:

• All expected grant outcomes were met. 
• WorkAbility Expos are a pathway-building and connection initiative.
• Workshops amplified the impact of connecting with employers
  and support by boosting knowledge gain and confidence.
